I sat down with Jack Hannah from Tuple a few months ago to talk about remote work.

I am tempted to write this blog post calmly and casually as if being on a podcast is normal, but I am having a mild freakout.

I'm on a podcast?!?!?! And I said smart things?!?!?!?

But for real. I listened to it, and it was a good conversation. Jack was a great host, and we chatted about the challenges of working remotely when part of the company works in the office.

Curiosity is my brand word, apparently. And I stand by it. Without curiosity, our work falls apart, whether in person or remote. Remote work requires a distinct kind of patience and curiosity--a pace that results in more substantial decisions, in my opinion.

My best advice for remote work is to set aside the urgency and take time to thoughtfully understand your colleagues whether you're writing a Slack message or pairing on code.
